The "EkoBabki" Rural Women's Circle in Budziszewko is a dynamic and passionate social organization that combines the multi-generational tradition of the Greater Poland countryside with a modern approach to integration, ecology, and cultural promotion. Although the association has been operating in its current legal form – as an entity entered into the National Register of Rural Women's Circles – since 2019, its activities are a natural continuation of the post-war traditions of the Budziszewko women, which for decades have formed the foundation of the social and cultural life of our village.
The name "EkoBabki" reflects the character of our town and the values dear to the members of the group. It refers to Budziszewko's picturesque location amidst forests and on Lake Budziszewskie, the promotion of a healthy lifestyle, care for the environment, and the use of local, natural resources in traditional cuisine and handicrafts.
Culture, tradition and local heritage
The main mission of the "EkoBabki" Community Group is to integrate residents and revitalize the village's common space. Members of the group are the hosts of the newly built community center and co-organizers of the most important events in the Budziszewko calendar.
A special achievement of the organization was the ceremonial celebration of the 660th anniversary of the Royal Village of Budziszewko in August 2025. This event, co-financed by a grant from the Rogoźno Commune and prepared in cooperation with the Village Head, the Village Council, and local associations, became a unique lesson in living history and an opportunity to jointly celebrate the royal roots of our village, which date back to 1365.
Regional cuisine, handicrafts and workshops
"EkoBabki" proudly represents the Budziszewko Village at events at the municipal and district levels. Members of the group are renowned for their delicious homemade baked goods, regional dishes, and artistic and florist talents.
The group regularly conducts open thematic and educational workshops, including the highly popular traditional Midsummer wreath-making workshop during the local Midsummer Night celebrations in Rogoźno. The women also cultivate harvest festival rituals by participating in wreath-making, organizing the festivities, and preparing tasting stands during the Harvest Festival.
Areas of activity of our Circle
- Culinary heritage: preserving traditional recipes of Greater Poland cuisine and promoting local baked goods.
- Handicrafts and education: organisation of floristry, culinary and handicraft workshops for children, youth and adults.
- Ecology and nature: promoting pro-ecological attitudes, a healthy lifestyle and the natural values of the area around Lake Budziszewskie.
- Grant projects: obtaining external funds and local government subsidies for the cultural and social development of rural areas.
Intergenerational integration – from the youngest to the elderly
The "EkoBabki" Community Group's activities are open to all residents of the village, regardless of age. The organization plays a significant role in activating seniors, being listed in the district's Senior Activation Database. Thanks to support from the village fund and the involvement of community activists, the group regularly organizes one- and multi-day sightseeing trips, allowing seniors and entire families to explore the most interesting corners of the country together.
With the youngest residents of Budziszewko in mind, the ladies from KGW co-create colorful outdoor and special events – from the annual Children's and Mother's Day festival on the village playground, through creative activities in the community center, to winter meetings with Santa Claus.
