Our history
Our Village
Budziszewko is a picturesque village in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, in Obornicki County, Rogoźno Commune, located approximately 9.5 km southeast of Rogoźno. As of January 21, 2025, the village has a population of 393. The village is characterized by compact development around an oval village square and former Dutch buildings scattered within a 2 km radius of the center.
On Lake Budziszewskie
The village is situated in the picturesque Gniezno Lake District. To the west of Budziszewko lies Lake Budziszewskie – a typical ribbon lake with a surface area of 162 hectares and a maximum depth of 14 meters. The Mała Wełna River flows through the lake, connecting it to Lake Rogoźno in the north and to Lake Rościńskie in the south. The southern shore of the lake is developed for tourism, with recreation centers and a guarded beach, making Budziszewko an attractive destination for tourists and anglers.
Monuments and cultural heritage
In the center of the village are two of the most important monuments. The wooden Church of St. James the Apostle dates from 1755 and was founded by Władysław Tomicki, a Poznań sword-bearer. The partially log church retains its original furnishings: a Baroque main altar, Rococo side altars from the second half of the 18th century, and an alabaster baptismal font topped with a crown and a cross. Adjacent to the church stands the Classicist palace of the Łubieński family from the early 19th century, currently privately owned. A plaque commemorating Adam Mickiewicz's visit was placed on the palace wall in 1955.
Active local community
Modern Budziszewko is a vibrant community. The village is home to the Adam Mickiewicz Primary School, the Volunteer Fire Department, and the "EkoBabki" Rural Women's Association, which actively engages in organizing local cultural events. Residents cultivate traditions and organize community-building events, such as the "Śladami Anrów Telimeny" Nordic Walking rally and anniversary celebrations.
Natural and recreational values
Its location by a lake and surrounded by forests makes Budziszewko an ideal place for active recreation enthusiasts. Cycling trails run along the lake, and recreation centers offer accommodation and a variety of recreational activities. Its proximity to nature, peace, and quiet make the village a popular destination for tourists seeking relaxation away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
