The establishment and beginnings of the unit (1925)

According to information provided by Genowefa Rymarska, Budziszewko's oldest resident at 94, the Volunteer Fire Department in Budziszewko was founded in 1925. Based on accounts from her father, Jan Chlebda, Genowefa confirmed that the unit was already active in the 1920s. Her father, along with Antoni Klinger, played a key role in the formation of the Volunteer Fire Department, serving as its founding members. A founding meeting was held in May 1925, marking the beginning of the Budziszewko fire department.

Leadership and management of the unit (1925–2024)

The unit's first commandant was Mr. Wojciech Jóźwiak, who held this position until 1945. After the end of World War II, the position was assumed by Mr. Józef Witkowski, who led the unit for almost three decades, until 1973. He was then succeeded by Mr. Edmund Rymarski, who held the position until 1986.

The presidents of the unit have also played an important role in its history. After 1986, Józef Skałbania was elected president and served until 1991. From 1991 to 1995, Wiesław Zenger held the position, and then Franciszek Pilarski assumed the presidency, leading the unit until 2021. Since 2021, Maja Twardecka has served as president.

Equally important was the position of chief. From 1986 to 2007, the position was held by Detective Inspector Stanisław Perła. He was succeeded by Detective Inspector Grzegorz Tylkowski, who held the position until 2015, when he was replaced by Detective Inspector Dawid Twardecki.

Infrastructure, equipment and current unit composition

A significant step in the unit's development was the construction of a new fire station. Work on it began in 2001 and was completed in 2003. This building became the center of firefighting activities, providing storage for equipment and hosting community meetings.

In terms of equipment, at the beginning of its operation, the unit used a horse-drawn fire engine, which served until 1980. It was then replaced by a Żuk vehicle, which was used until 2003. The unit then received a Star 244 vehicle, donated by the Rogoźno Volunteer Fire Department. In 2016, the municipal government purchased a modern Star 266 vehicle, which served the unit until 2023. In 2024, the unit, with the support of sponsors and its own funds, purchased a Volkswagen T4. Since 2023, the unit has been equipped with a STAR 1142, loaned from the Rogoźno Volunteer Fire Department. On March 9, 2025, the unit received an IVECO EUROCARGO fire truck.

The current composition of the entity's management board is as follows:

This unit is not only a symbol of tradition but also a testament to the strength of community and solidarity.
