Budziszewko on the pages of scientific studies – what do historians say about us?
"Zapiski Kazimierzowskie" No. 35/2026
"Zapiski Kazimierzowskie" is a periodical published by the King Casimir the Great Association, devoted to the history of the reign of Casimir the Great, the late Middle Ages, and the heritage associated with that period. Issue 35/2026 includes, among other things, an article by Gustaw Wańkowicz, "Reminiscences from the History of Budziszewko," which goes far beyond a general outline of history. The author presents specific numbers, places, and anecdotes, for example, when he notes that "in the interwar period, Budziszewko was inhabited by 37 German families [...] and 38 Polish families," draws attention to a local legend according to which "there was an underground canal from the palace to the pond," and finally, he vividly describes the route to Studzieniec, which Józef Łubieński is said to have marked out in such a way that to this day "the road is very winding." Thanks to such details, the reader receives something more than a simple timeline – they begin to imagine what everyday life in the village was like, what the relations between the manor and the inhabitants were, and how local stories intertwine with the greater history of Poland.
This article, therefore, includes a mention of Budziszewko, which presents our village within the context of Polish history—as a point on a map of ancient estates and routes, and as part of a larger settlement network in the region. This allows the reader to see that Budziszewko is not just a "small town at the end of a road," but part of a story explored by professional researchers of Polish history.

If you prefer a printed version of the magazine, it's still best to contact the Association's editorial office directly, as printed copies are primarily sent to members, libraries, and cooperating institutions. „Majątki Wielkopolskie. Tom XI: Powiat obornicki”
The second publication, "Wielkopolska Estates. Volume XI: Obornicki County," is the eleventh volume in the prestigious "Old Farm Buildings" series, published by the National Museum of Agriculture and Agri-Food Industry in Szreniawa. The authors examine Budziszewko not only through the prism of ownership history, but primarily as a "palace complex" and "residential complex," presenting detailed floor plans, the layout of rooms, and the palace's connections with the park and farm. Readers will find descriptions of the Classicist palace and its transformations in the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as a comparison of archival postcards with the current panorama of the residence, allowing them to see how the building's form and the surrounding greenery have evolved.
The "farm complex," which included a barn, a distillery, and a "stock and farm building," is presented with equal interest, described in detail, down to the building materials, roof structure, and functions of each section. The book guides us step by step through these structures—from site plans from old maps, through archival photographs, to contemporary photos and inventories—making Budziszewko one of the best-known architectural estates in the Obornicki County, not just a "village with a palace," as is often perceived. It also details the successive owners of the estate.
The publication is sold by the National Museum of Agriculture and Agri-Food Industry in Szreniawa – the volume is part of their "Old Farm Buildings" series, and the museum advertises it in its gift shop, among other places. The book was promoted at the Regional Museum in Rogoźno and the Public Library of the City and Commune in Oborniki – it's worth asking there about a copy or possible future deliveries. The book can be purchased on-site during the meetings, so contacting the museum directly is a good idea: https://rck.rogozno.pl/141-kontakt.html . The book is currently available for purchase at the Regional Museum in Rogoźno.
